Wake up to the sound of birdsong in this secluded cottage amongst the trees. Sleeping four guests, the country bolthole makes a fabulous couples’ retreat or holiday home for a small family. The property is located within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and you’ll have a great selection of stunning walks directly from your doorstep. A 3-mile stroll will bring you to the village of Brightling, where you can embrace history on a hunt for ‘Mad’ Jack Fuller’s follies, which are dotted throughout the area. The cottage is also just 14 miles from the historic town of Hastings, in the heart of 1066 Country. Spend time pottering around the preserved Old Town, where you’ll find narrow streets, Tudor houses, and flower-covered cottages, as well as some excellent eateries serving freshly caught seafood. After lunch, hop on the cliff railway to explore the ruins of Hastings Castle and admire the far-reaching views across the town and out to sea. Other nearby attractions include Battle Abbey (the site of the Battle of Hastings), Rye, and Royal Tunbridge Wells, all within 20 miles of the property.
The rural hideaway is light and bright with a home-away-from-home vibe, thanks to pretty soft furnishings, houseplants, and artwork on the walls. The property enjoys rural views in all directions and the windows frame vistas of rolling fields and sprawling woodlands. The cottage has a sociable, open-plan layout, with a living area comprising a lounge/kitchen/diner. Share mealtimes together around the table by the window, before retiring to the lounge area to stretch out on the sofa in front of the TV/DVD or curl up in one of the armchairs to read a few pages from your book. The first of the bedrooms is an attractive king-size with a handy en-suite WC. The second is a cosy twin and both bedrooms boast fabulous views across the forest. Completing the property is a chic shower room.
French doors open from the living area to the garden, where there is a cute patio with furniture and a BBQ for outdoor dining – the perfect spot to unwind with a glass of wine at the end of a busy day. There is also a lawned area where children can play, which leads to the surrounding woodland.
